Why do I feel so drowsy and tired after I eat or drink anything containing sugar?

This only happens whenever I eat anything that has sugar in it and it doesn't matter if it's processed sugar or natural. Sodas, cake, fruits, you name it.

Why earlier today I had a small glass of pomegranate juice and just 5 minutes later I felt so sluggish as if a sleeping pill had just kicked in. Why is this? Is there a way around it besides avoiding sweets all together?

maybe you have diabetes? i dont know . ..
Reply:Well, a natural effect of sugar is an artificial burst of energy and then the sideaffect is tiredness. I'm thinking that your body is working a little overtime in digesting that particular thing so I'm thinking that there is a certain kind of food you need to be eating that you aren't. Is there anything that you've cut out of your diet recently?
Reply:Eating sugary foods causes blood sugar to rise higher than normal. This causes your pancreas to release large amounts of insulin, which drives one of the protein building blocks called tryptophan from your bloodstream into your brain, where it is converted to serotonin, and that makes people fall asleep.
Reply:Hmm see a doc, they know best.

It COULD be diabetes.

But my english teacher has the same thing. If she eats sugar, she'll start shaking a lot and start freaking out.
Reply:Why don't people get it! You go see a docter!!! It's common sense!!
Reply:Dude, go get a diabetes test done
