I just bought a Dixie Sweet, not sure if cal wonderful is the really purple one... I am going to buy another one soon.. ps are those bushes or trees, do we have to train them to look like trees.. thanks guys :0)
Please Name the different types of Pomegranates... what is the really purple one?
The only true pom is Punica granatum, although there are numerous varieties that have been bred for various commercial purposes. The seller should be able to tell you the characteristics of the plant you are buying. if he can't, try someplace else.
Poms are regarded as either large shrubs or small trees depending on who you talk to. If you want a shrub, periodically cut out the tallest canes close to their base. If you want a small tree, allow only three to five canes to develop and keep them limbed up like you would a Crepe Mytle for example.
