How long does it takes before the fertilizer takes effect?

I am growing pomegrantes and I put dog droppings on the ground above the pomegranate trees. I want to ask is how long before the droppings will enter the ground and if putting too much droppings can kill the tree? I love using my dog's dropping for my pomegranates tree and it is flourishing

How long does it takes before the fertilizer takes effect?
About 30 minutes it starts to break down and soak into the ground. Faster if watered.
Reply:Fertilizer will act immediately as soon as it reaches the roots. Dog droppings are not a god source of fertilizer and using them fresh is not a good idea either. Dogs are carnivores or omnivores, wither of which both have meat in their diet. Dropping from dogs contain bacteria from the meat in their diet (even cooked, there are bacteria and other microorganisms in the meat). The bacteria in the droppings is bad and will attract a variety of pests (flies and small animals). Secondly, any fresh droppings are acidic and will burn the roots of plants. That's why animal manure has been composted before being sold to use. Depending if you want just leaves for a nice houseplant, use a fertilizer with a high nitrogen content (the first number)
Reply:Immediately. I get mad immediately after all Bush speeches.
Reply:I must admit every one so far has hit the answer of dog drippings on the target. This is not good unless you use good Fertilizers that has been processed by Commerical Company for meny reason.

1] First Weed Free [NPK] is very inportant for each growth style in plants.

a] Nitrogen- Starts in some plants when first applied for Growth,Greening of leaf structure, deeper root growth also.

b] Phosphorous- also for acid and groth in roots system to plant growth.

c] k- potassium which occurs to akali soil to help in drainage also for plant growth again.

2] So this is why commercial fertilizers processed is best.

Less Weed,Fungus problems , better breakdowns of needed nutritation for plant growth and tall plants or better flowers,Fruit. Oh yes one more items is Alfalfa Meal, Bone Meal or Fish emulsion. Yes Chicken or Steer manure.. however again prosessed these items take out the Weed debris left in them. Then also possible Fungus,Insect such as Borers,Thrips, Earwigs,Sowbugs other insects. This deepend where you are located what State and your Growing

Reply:for starters dog droppings are not good fertilizer. there is nothing in them that would feed plants. try using compost or chicken manure or something that will actually feed the plant.
Reply:to use dog droppings as fertilizers is not a good idea, using them fresh makes the situation worst. A regular fertilizer like the normal NPK fertilizer takes effect when the soil is watered, caution should be applied when applying fertilizers since applying them close to the rootzone would cause the plant to burn, always remember to check the recommendations on the packets of your fertilizer before trying them on any plant
