How do you know when a pomegranate is ready and ripe?

When it%26#039;s bright red on the outside.

An easy way to remove the seeds. Is cut the pomegranite in half and then hold a half in your hand seed side down. Then wallop with a wooden spoon (have a dish underneath your hand) the seeds come out quite easily and it saves using the old fashioned method of using a pin to remove each individual seed.

count the seeds. there should be exactly 613 equal to the number of mitzvots (commandments)
Reply:like they said, when it is reddish in color.

another good way to get the seeds out is to cut it in a bowl of water and strain it- that way, you can just throw all of the excess out and the seeds are all in the strainer. easy cleanup.
