I hear it everywhere, but I%26#039;m not sure if I really believe it%26#039;s as effective as people say it is.
Do fruits like blueberries and pomegranates really significantly help to prevent cancer?
Excellent answer Panda.
I%26#039;m one of those people - vegan, organic food (love blueberries!), never smoked, exercised, and got cancer.
If you like them, eat them; they%26#039;re good for you and a healthy diet is always a good idea. But don%26#039;t rely on them to stop you getting cancer.
Reply:fresh berries like those contain a high amount of anti-oxidants, which can eliminate %26quot;free radicals%26quot; from your body. these free radicals come from all sorts of places, mainly diet and when in your body have the tendency to rip electrons off of things. this is all fine and good until they get near your DNA and then they can mutate it and cause the cell to start reproducing cancerously. So yes, they can help prevent certian causes of cancer, but they arnt a cure. hope this helps!
Reply:Little scientific evidence exists to show it significantly prevents cancer. It might help or it might not, but either way it is probably good for you health wise. So, if you like them . . eat them.
Despite all the studies and research into food and diet there is still no clear evidence that any of it prevents cancer . . . why . . well, because people who consume these products and adhere to strict dietary guidelines in the hope of not getting cancer . . still get cancer. You hear about it all the time . . people are shocked because they feel a false sense of security about eating all the right things, not smoking, exercising, and eating all the right foods . . and than they get cancer anyway. No evidence exists that diet alone can prevent all cancers.
Reply:Well, if you%26#039;re going to believe it won%26#039;t help, then chances are it won%26#039;t.
If you believe %26#039;drugs%26#039; help, (which are made by natural elements of the earth) then you%26#039;ll be taking drugs the rest of your life, which aren%26#039;t going to help cure cancer, but treat it.
Choose what you want to believe - and change your mind when it doesn%26#039;t suit you any longer.
