Are there pomegranates in the Philippines?

Are there pomegranates in the Philippines? If yes where can I find them? I just can%26#039;t seem to find any in the wet market and supermarkets...

Are there pomegranates in the Philippines?
There is Public Market for fruits in the southern part of Manila City called San Andres Bukid just some few blocks away Roxas Blvd. and along Taft Avenue corner Quirino Ave. You will find lots of tropical fruits. It is called %26quot;granada%26quot; in tagalog language.
Reply:I saw them at a marketplace in Baguio during my last visit. I was surprised to see them especially in Baguio. A vendor told me that they grow wild in some areas of southern Luzon.
Reply:Yummm that is all I have to say is yummm. I had some salsa made for them, red oninon and jalapneo juice and some cilantro. It was wonderful. All the juices with them in it. All I can say is yummmmm. I am hoping they will make more things with them in it.
Reply:My wife, who is from Cebu, says yes. Apparently, they grow wild.
Reply:When I was young, I used to see pomegranates as ingredients in recipe books and I%26#039;ve always wondered how they looked like. I am not sure if this is now available in the Philippines but I%26#039;ve never seen one myself in the Philippines. I%26#039;ve been here for over a decade now and I have never thought about buying them. Last weekend, curiosity got the better of me.

I bought one and tasted it. My husband who is always afraid to taste something foreign did not even touch this. My kids did. Well it tasted like kiwi. The seeds are like kiwi%26#039;s. However, I think I liked kiwi better.

%26quot;The wide fruit is crowned at the base by the prominent calyx. The tough, leathery skin or rind is typically yellow overlaid with light or deep pink or rich red. The interior is separated by membranous walls and white, spongy, bitter tissue into compartments packed with sacs filled with sweetly acid, juicy, red, pink or whitish pulp or aril. In each sac there is one angular, soft or hard seed%26quot;.

I would not want to buy this like I buy apples and oranges. It%26#039;s just not my kind of fruit.
Reply:i dont know.
Reply:Well, there are many friuts in he Phlippine Area. Pomegreanates aren%26#039;t a hugh favorite for many filipinos, so i recommend other places.

The magoes are the mot popular friut in the Philippines. But yea sure, you can find pomegranates in the Philippines, but just not many.
