I%26#039;ve heard that they need to ripen and that you only eat the seeds, but I could be wrong.Anyone know the answer?It%26#039;ll get you 10 points...whoopee!!!!
I%26#039;ve just been given a pomegranate. How in the world do you eat these things?
if its a nice shade of dark red, open it up with a knife or if it has a crack rip it open there with your hands. you can either pick the seeds out with your hand and put them in a bowl, or you can just bite into it. its realy good but be careful they stain clothing. I hope this helps and enjoy your pomegranate
Reply:You just peel it open and eat the seeds. It%26#039;s up to you whether or not you chew up and swallow the seed. Some folks just like to chew the fruit part off the seed and spit the seed back out. I just eat the seed and all. It%26#039;s a great fruit!
Reply:Cut it in quarters. Peel away the yellow internal membrane over the seeds. Break open each quarter with your hands and the seeds will pop out in small clusters. Pop them out individually and put them in your mouth. Munch at them so that you get the juice and fruit around the seeds, but don%26#039;t crunch at them so that you end up crunching the seeds. Spit out the seeds. Repeat repeat repeat repeat.

Reply:The fruit can be eaten out of hand by deeply scoring several times vertically and then breaking it apart. The clusters of juice sacs are then lifted out and eaten. The sacs also make an attractive garnish when sprinkled on various dishes. Pomegranate fruits are most often consumed as juice and can be juiced is several ways. The sacs can be removed and put through a basket press or the juice can be extracted by reaming the halved fruits on an ordinary orange juice squeezer. Another approach starts with warming the fruit slightly and rolling it between the hands to soften the interior. A hole is then cut in the stem end which is placed on a glass to let the juice run out, squeezing the fruit from time to time to get all the juice. The juice can be used in a variety of of ways: as a fresh juice, to make jellies, sorbets or cold or hot sauces as well as to flavor cakes, baked apples, etc. Pomegranate syrup is sold commercially as grenadine. The juice can also be made into a wine.
Reply:Pomegranate--they are very tasty. Take the peeling off and pop the seeds in your mouth and suck the juice off of them, then spit out the seed part. You can also put them through a juicer and drink the juice, they are high in antioxidants and a very heart healthy fruit. ENJOY!
Reply:You definitely don%26#039;t want to eat the pith.
It helps to break the whole thing in half first, then in quarters, etc. Then you carefully remove the internal seeds f/ the pith / membrane. The seeds are also individually surrounded in a juicy membrane that can easily break %26amp; stain, so be careful! But then you just eat all those little pieces of juicy-ness. And they are delicious!
Reply:I don%26#039;t think you eat the seeds but suck the juice off of them.
The produce dept sells some excellent juice , its too much work
otherwise, I like the blueberry flavored or cherry flavored
pomegranate juices.
Reply:Mmmm, pomegranates are soooooo delicious! Sometimes pomegranates are also called %26quot;Chinese apples%26quot;. Pathmark, a local grocery chain in NJ had provided instructions on how to prepare and eat this particular fruit. Take a vegetable knife and slice off both ends of the pomegranate. Set the pomegranate down on one of its sliced ends. Take your knife and start to cut into the red outer layer. Just cut enough so that you can use the outer layer as a %26#039;tab%26#039; to rip open the pomegranate. Peel off the light yellowish membrane and there you have it! Extract the red seeds and eat them! This is rather a messy process, so wear old clothes or a smock when peeling the pomegranate.
In Greek mythology, there was one particular story which included the comsumption of a pomegranate. Can you guess which one it is?
Reply:I used to eat these things all the time as a kid( just picked them off our tree). They do need to ripen - should be a reddish color on the outside. You crack it open and just kind of chew on the seeds and then spit them out.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm......brings back memories. Enjoy!!!
Reply:As long as its reddish, not green, its cool, yup just the seeds, very tangy and full of vitamins, enjoy
Reply:Pomegranate juice can be used to make gelatin desserts, sauces and dressing, while the seeds can be used as a garnish or eaten alone. There is no right way to get at the juicy insides of a pomegranate, but these suggestions should help.
Extract the Seeds
Instructions
STEP 1: Cut off the flowery end of the pomegranate.
STEP 2: Score into sections.
STEP 3: Place in a bowl of water.
STEP 4: Allow fruit to soak for 5 minutes.
STEP 5: Break the sections of the fruit open in the bowl of water. STEP 6: Allow the seed kernels to separate from the rind and sink to the bottom.
STEP 7: Discard the rind and drain the kernels.
Tips %26amp; Warnings
A less formal way to enjoy the pomegranate raw is to just break or cut the fruit open and extract the kernels with your fingers or a nut pick.
The seeds inside the kernels may be eaten.
Extract the Juice
Instructions
STEP 1: Press the fruit against a countertop.
STEP 2: Roll it back and forth to break open the kernels and release the juice.
STEP 3: Puncture or cut the pomegranate to squeeze the juice out.
Tips %26amp; Warnings
Another method is to blend seeds in a blender or food processor, and drain the juice through cheesecloth.
Overall Tips %26amp; Warnings
Be careful where you cut and eat the fruit - the juice stains.
Reply:i have loved pomegranates forever, if its ripe you just open it up and eat all the little seeds inside, all it is ...is seed%26#039;s little red juicy seeds that you will never find anything that taste the same !!!!if you dont want it send it my way ok
Reply:First of all, you cut or crack it open. Then you either bite into the red kernels, or put on a red shirt and carefully scrape them off with your thumb. Make sure that it falls into a plate or bowl. Scoop with a spoon or eat with your hands. And make sure its cold.
P.S. They have a crunchy center, get used to it. And don%26#039;t eat the white surroundings, they%26#039;re bitter.
